Fashion in My Passion Essay - 710 Words

I am a woman breed by fashion. Fashion has not only empowered me to be the strong woman I am today but it is the only matter that drives me to excel. Fashion does not just exist, it lives. How you dress can interpret how a person feels, how their day went, or what lifestyle they live. Ive always wanted to help women enhance their natural beauty. I suffered from low self esteem myself, but embracing who I was and my style bought confidence and drive to my life. This has been my passion since I was five years old and even in the present day fashion is my biggest muse in life. Though I have had my obstacles staying true to my style, dedication to be successful, and my learning from my mistakes has gotten me to this opportunity today. I have†¦show more content†¦I often found myself in the costume design classroom during lunch breaks and after school helping out with the construction of the wardrobe for various performances. After graduating on time with a High School Regents Di ploma I went straight to college. I attended Buffalo State College and majored in Fashion Merchandising. I was excited to be away from home, gain some independence and venture off to see what life was like outside of New York City. On top of that I received a great financial aid package and at that time I thought it was a blessing in disguise. However as time started getting closer to me leaving for school everything else around me began to crumble and soon became too much for me to handle. While in Buffalo I suffered from a lot of anxiety attacks, I had never been away from home, I had no money, no phone, my mother was struggling back home with my little sister and were soon to be evicted, and my health was in jeopardy. Within two weeks of me being in Buffalo I was admitted in the Hospital from a bad asthma attack and symptoms would not depress itself without large amounts of medication. Even though it killed me inside I knew that I had to withdraw from school. A month after I was working retail as a Sales Associate in stores such as Macy’s and Forever 21. Working retail isn’t the best experience and I knew I had much more potential than what I was currently putting forth.
